Advanced Materials for Gas Diffusion Electrodes in PEMFCs: super hydrophobic textiles and nanocarbon-based inks

Start Date: 24 November, 2011 End Date: 24 November, 2011
Location: Dipartimento di Chimica e Materiali del Politecnico di Milano

On 24 November 2011,  the Department of Chemistry and Materials of the Polytechnic of Milan will host the final event of the project: Advanced Materials for Gas Diffusion Electrodes (GDE) in Polymer Electrolytes Membranes Fuel Cells (PEMFCs): super hydrophobic textiles and nanocarbon-based inks.

The research project has addressed one component of the single fuel cell: the Gas Diffusion Layer (GDL). An innovative GDEs has been assembled into a fuel cell lab prototype, using commercial polymeric membranes and bipolar plates. The performances have been tested in terms of polarization and power densities curves, with encouraging final results.
