New clean and alternative fuels in Monza

Francisco Magnano, Undersecretary to the Presidency of the Region Lombardia for the attraction and promotion of the region, announces that ”in adjacent areas of the Autodromo di Monza will be built a station of clean and alternative fuels”. ” It will be placed – Magnano said – on the Santa Maria Selva road: a SIAS ( the company that handles the race track) concession areas, which allows the safeguard of the delicate environmental, natural and landscape balances. “
The filling station, which represents a component of the new Experimental Clean Energy Center planned for Expo 2015, will involve the following types of fuels: natural gas, LPG, Hydro-methane and hydrogen, both liquid and gas. Hydrogen production will be improved through an innovative solar thermodynamic system designed by the Energy Department of Politecnico di Milano.
The filling station location allows refuelling both to the vehicles used at the Autodromo (which are not approved for operate on ordinary roads) and to the vehicles using LPG or methane in the Monza area, which can found here another point of supply.
Lombardy has exceeded the threshold of the 100 distributors of natural gas. The number of stations has increased fivefold in the last ten years, thanks to the Regional Council objective to have a station every 45 thousand inhabitants and per 30 km of highway and to the commitment of the Commerce and Tourism Department led by Stephen Maullu.
