Malaguti - CDC President opened San Donato ATM depot: the new structure for the management of passenger service in Milan.
The project involved approximately 30 companies for a total cost of approximately € 28.5 million. The plant covers an area of 65 thousand square meters and accommodates up to 250 buses and over 300 employees between drivers, maintenance workers and office staff.
The work is characterized by a high level of Sustainability: on the roof of the depot is placed a
photovoltaic system that allows the production of energy used to partly power the underground, with a reduction of CO2 emission of 185 tons per year. The office buildings are energy-efficient (class B), are provided with a water recycling plant and natural gas cogeneration plants.
The new facility will also host the first hydrogen-powered buses part of the CHIC
(Clean Hydrogen in European Cities) project that involve the city of Milan with other
European cities, including London.
