The 4th edition of the “European Fuel Cell Technology & Applications Piero Lunghi Conference” aims to cement the collaboration between Academia, Research Institutions, industry and policymakers, showing the scientific progress and the most modern applications of fuel cell-based technologies, to prove that the need of change is a resource to cultivate. Topics of the conference will cover all fuel cell technologies, focusing in particular on current applications: Materials and Fabrication Processes Cell, Stack, System Modeling System and Balance of Plant Design and Optimization Lab and Field Tests and Market or Real‐life Applications Fuel Processing and Non-Conventional Fuels New ideas, Non‐conventional Fuel Cells and Niche Applications Technical-Economical and Environmental analysis Policy and Cross-cutting Issues on Fuel Cells More information here.
The ”Giornata Italiana su Celle a Combustibile e Idrogeno” organized by CNR, ENEA and CSR aims to raise the Italian actors working in the field of fuel cells and hydrogen. This day is aimed to present both the results of research carried out under the Programme Agreement with the Ministry of Economic Development, and the main Italian industrial player ongoing activities. The event also aims to give participants an opportunity to meet in order to prepare for future challenges of research in the field of fuel cells and hydrogen, which can contribute to make the national productive system more innovative and competitive. The program (under development) identifies ENEA, RSE and CNR and some of the main Italian actors active in the field of fuel cells and hydrogen (ENEL, EDISON, SOFCPower, Environment Park). The date was chosen to create a connection with the event days of the “European Fuel Cell Conference & Exhibition“, which will be held on December 14 to 16 in Rome – Centro Congressi Roma Eventi – Fontana di Trevi. Participation is free and open to all interested parties. As the number of places is limited, registration is required before November 30, here.
On 24 November 2011, the Department of Chemistry and Materials of the Polytechnic of Milan will host the final event of the project: Advanced Materials for Gas Diffusion Electrodes (GDE) in Polymer Electrolytes Membranes Fuel Cells (PEMFCs): super hydrophobic textiles and nanocarbon-based inks. The research project has addressed one component of the single fuel cell: the Gas Diffusion Layer (GDL). An innovative GDEs has been assembled into a fuel cell lab prototype, using commercial polymeric membranes and bipolar plates. The performances have been tested in terms of polarization and power densities curves, with encouraging final results. Download the program. More information here
The 2011 edition of “L’energia spiegata ‐ Festival dell’Energia” marks a significant shift towards a wider and more international approach of the event. During the previous editions (2008, 2009 and 2010), the Energy Festival confirmed its leading role in the energy debate at national level. The event was able to gather the expertise and trends of industries and institutions and to offer an open and super partes place to discuss and positively enhance different visions and positions on energy topics. The city of Florence decided to host the Festival because of its international scope, combined with a major role played by the local territory and municipalities, as part of a global and local vision of the energy future, with a view to saving, smart consumption, innovation and sustainability; a vision supported and shared by Tuscany Region and Province of Florence. Cooperation with the European Commission and with Embassies of France, Holland and the United States ensures quality and a wide approach to the issues addressed and to the Festival’s global vision. The main topic “Smart Energy” will be thoroughly investigated in different sections of the programme: Energy for working and producing Energy for moving Energy for growing and living Energy [...]
The European Mobility Week (16 to 22 September, 2011) is promoted by the European Commission and has become an international event aiming at sensibilising citizens to the use of public transport, cycling, walking and at encouraging European cities to promote these modes of transport and to invest in the new necessary infrastructures. This year’s specific theme, chosen by the European Union, focuses on alternative mobility, supporting the shift towards a clean transport system and non-motorized modes of transport. The Ministry of Environment is joining the European Mobility Week, sharing the goals, playing a coordinating role, supporting national initiatives and events sponsored by municipalities and associations and inviting citizens to participate. It is an opportunity for all the participating cities and towns to show how much environmental issues concern them. The operation will allow them to express themselves on the matter and at the same time give citizens an opportunity to show their support by their interest and involvement, for measures for a better quality of life in the urban environment. The week is also an opportunity for institutions, organizations and associations from across Europe to promote their objectives, to share different viewpoints and promote a new culture of moving. Since Hydrogen as an energy carrier and hydrogen applications, as fuel cells, are considered to play an important role in Europe’s energy and transport future, the conference “The Italian hydrogen way” organized by Italian Hydrogen and Fuel Cells Association (H2IT), presenting what is already happening in the EU and in Germany, as the most advanced country in Europe, would like to call for more attention to Italy’s contribution to this sector.
The Italian Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association H2IT is convinced that, even in the absence of national programs and regional strategies, Italian industrial and scientific competence throughout the hydrogen and fuel cell value chain is significant.
NEW-IG (the European Industry Grouping for a Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking, called New Energy World Industry Grouping “Fuel Cell and Hydrogen for Sustainability”) and N.ERGHY (the association representing the interests of European universities and research institutes in the Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Joint Technology Initiative) invite all parties interested in responding to the 2011 FCH JU Call to participate in the 2011 Brokerage event. The event will take place on 19 May in Hotel Kempinski Bristol, Kurfürstendamm 27, Berlin. The programme of the Brokerage event will be divided in two parts: after a joint information and Q&A session on the Call 2011 (content, procedure, timeframe, practicalities and tips for successful proposals) lead by speakers from the JU Programme Office, the participants will have the opportunity to discuss concrete ideas and meet with potential partners within their respective application areas. The objective of this year’s edition of the FCH JU Brokerage event is to help members with the preparation of drafting proposals and search for the right consortium partners in the context of the Call 2011 which is to be launched at the beginning of May 2011. Participation will be free of charge for NEW-IG and N.ERGHY members but other organisations interested in the 4th FCH JU call [...]
The HySAFER centre announced a 5 day, International short course and advanced research workshop on” Hydrogen Technologies and Infrastructure”, 16-20 May 2011, Belfast. This is the 11th International short course and advanced research workshop in the series “Progress in Hydrogen Safety” and will be held at the University of Ulster in Jordanstown, Belfast.
