ENFICA-FC Project Description: Study and demonstrate the possibility of obtaining a more/all electric aircraft through the integration of fuel-cells technology as main power-supply system. During the three years research activity, a fuel-cell based power system has been designed, developed and installed in a ultra-light aircraft in order to achieve the first fuel-cell manned flight. After obtaining the permit to fly by Italian CAA (ENAC), the first high speed taxiing tests were successfully carried out on the Rapid 200-FC “zero emission” between December 2009 and February 2010. During the test carried at the end of May 2010, the plane has been flying for 40 minutes and reaching a speed of 145-150 km/h Partners: Politecnico di Torino, METEC, Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI), Intelligent energy (IE), Evektor (EVE), Jihlavan Airplane (JA), Air Products (APL), Universitè Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), Università di Pisa.
